Candidate Packet Request

When Do I “Register” as a Candidate?

A candidate is not required to register/form a committee before gathering nomination petition signatures. A candidate is not required to register unless/until they have reached the current threshold of $1,200.00* in combined contributions and/or expenditures (including use of their own money). Once this threshold has been met, the candidate’s committee is required to file a Statement of Organization within 10 days. Once registered, the committee is required to file campaign finance reports.

If a candidate never reaches the threshold, registration and reporting are not required; however, the committee should keep record of all transactions.

* Registration thresholds are increased by $100 at the beginning of each odd numbered year (i.e. January 1, 2019) pursuant to A.R.S. § 16-931(A)(1).
