Our Ballots Got a Makeover!

In 2020, Maricopa County voters will see a brand new ballot. Voters will now fill in ovals rather than connect arrows.
As the fastest growing county in the country, our tabulators needed to keep up! So, we’ve upgraded our elections equipment to replace our 23-year-old machines. The new equipment includes features designed to improve efficiency and security over the tabulation process.

  • New Ballot – The new ballot will have ovals. The ballot is specifically designed to be easier to vote!
  • New Accessible Marking Device – This device provides voters with an alternative method of voting using a touch screen or audio recording. We are thrilled to introduce this device as it is simple to setup and easy to use. It also prints out a durable paper copy of the voter’s ballot that is fed through the tabulator at every polling location.
  • Faster Tabulation Equipment – The new equipment and new ballot style allows the county to double the speed of counting ballots!

The Maricopa County Election’s Department and the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office are committed to running elections smoothly, efficiently and with integrity in the fastest growing county in the country.
